Ah, ah, choo!

Our poor little girl has her first cold that has really hit her as of yesterday.  We have it all, the congestion, the coughing, the sneezing and now the runny nose.  She seems absolutely miserable and Dave and I feel helpless since there isn't much we can do.  She doesn't want to play, sleep, be cuddled too long...she just wants to fuss!  Poor, poor little girl!

Prior to her catching this little cold, Avery has been wonderful!  She is much more comfortable with tummy time, enjoys sitting up (can't by herself yet) and playing.  She has also discovered that splashing in the bathtub is much more fun than just sitting there.  Yeah for mom!

Last weekend we were in Chicago for the long weekend to visit Grandma and Grandpa and of course her aunties who miss her!

Happy baby during tummy time!

Silly girls!

Very happy girl playing with Auntie Robyn
Relaxin'~

And then there is this kid!  Someone needs to teach him what is worth smiling about!!

And now we are just confusing him!  Poor guy!

Robyn and I like to play the game of the creeping baby.  However, we get so much enjoyment out of it that it is hard for us to control our laughter.  See if you can find Avery creepin' up on Grandpa!!

Then we tried to get it on video...this took a couple takes and by the end of this one, I was laughing so hard I had to stop recording.  You get the idea though.  I am sorry if you don't find it funny, but this is for Robyn!

Finally, before Avery and I headed home so she could see her daddy, who was missing her an awful lot, we stopped by to see GiGi who we hadn't seen since the beginning of December.  She was surprised and happy to see us!

I love that they are both just looking in the same
direction...I believe at my dad.

Playing on the floor with GiGi's necklace!

It amazes me the things that Avery finds amusing.  The simplest household item, a box, and now even the thing she hates the most is amusing in the bathtub...her nose sucker!

One of Avery's favorite games to play with daddy is race-highchair....

Happy 2011

Hope everyone's new year is off to a wonderful start!  Avery is doing fine now that she is back to only bottles and we will see her doctor on Monday afternoon.  We are hoping for some direction on what to do next.  Avery is officially 5 months old now...I cannot believe it.  I was just looking through her pictures the other day of the day when she was born and it feels like yesterday.  It is amazing how quickly it has all gone!  We don't have much of an update other than a few pictures, but I wanted to keep my new year's resolution, at least before January was over!  Enjoy!

Dave and Dorota were in for New Year's Eve!

Every month she ends up snuggling (or falling into)
her little bear!

The night of the Sugar Bowl we were ready to cheer on the Buckeyes!

Avery has recently begun showing us her "I'm frustrated" part of her personality.  She continually tries to shove her toys into her mouth and becomes quite vocal when she can't!  See what I mean...

ER Visit #1- done!

We had a scary moment yesterday with our little one.  Some people have heard and others haven't, but I wanted to make sure all the correct details were out there.  Here is what happened....

As I had posted in the blog, we have begun giving Avery rice cereal.  Yesterday was her third day on it and she seemed to be loving the cereal and was keeping far more of it down than the previous two days.  About 30-45 minutes after we had finished feeding her, Dave yelled from our living room that something was wrong with Avery.  I came running and found him holding our baby who was covered in red spots, her eyes were watering and red and she appeared to be passing out right in front of us.  She was not responding to our voices, gentle shakings, or even us yelling.  Scared to death, we raced her to the emergency room.  During the trip to the ER, I continued to try and engage her, but still nothing.

Once we got to the ER, they quickly took her back and checked her vitals which were all fine.  No temp, no elevated heart rate or blood pressure, nothing.  At this time, she was slowing coming back to.  The ER doctor gave her some Benedryl and within about five minutes her face began to clear up.

Our pediatrician's office wanted to see us immediately, so we left the hospital and went there.  Avery's doctor was out of town so we saw the on call doctor who was wonderful!  He checked her out and explained that it sounds like an allergic reaction, but because it is rice it is hard for him to believe.  He told us that he has only known 1 or 2 kids to have a rice allergy!  The doctor said that it didn't seem like she had a seizure either, so that was refreshing.  In order to check for the allergy, however, they would have to draw blood.  Since he is not Avery's doctor, he wants to wait until she returns on Monday and allow her to make that call.  Until further notice, she is back on liquids only!

We are hoping to see our pediatrician early next week and figure out what happened.  As of last night and all day today, she is back to her fun, giggly, smiley self, which we are so happy to see again!

Thanks for the emails!  I will be sure to keep you posted!

Happy New Year everyone!

Happy Holidays!

(Sorry in advance for the huge spaces!  I don't know what is happening!)

Greetings and Happy Holidays from the Glacinski's!  As an early New Year's resolution, I am going to work really hard on posting more often.  Hopefully I can get into some sort of routine where I can post every couple weeks at least!  It has been a busy month for us with Avery.  The month began with the annual Nemer Christmas party and family dinner with my siblings, mom and dad.  That fist weekend in December also marked Avery's 4 month birthday!  When we took her for her four month checkup, she weighed in at a "whopping" 13 lbs 5 oz!  She has almost doubled her birth weight!

I think she is finally a bit bigger than her Buckeye Bear!
She still likes to cuddle with him though!

Lucas, Dave and I at Woodfield Mall

Since hitting the four month mark, Avery has begun:
  • smiling constantly
  • giggling for us occasionally
  • sitting in her bumbo and highchair

  • to not hate tummy time all the time and can hold her head up pretty well

  • teething- we can see the little whites in the bottom gums, and they occasionally cause her some discomfort.
  • going to bed awake and on her own.  Since Dave and I are off for two weeks, we have started letting her cry it out for a bit at night.  For the most part, she has done awesome!  We have only had one night that was a disaster, but so far so good.
  • sleeping without a swaddle (something else we have taken on while being off work)
  • eating cereal (as of today, 12/28, see below)
  • rolling over- well ok, she did it once on Christmas with a bit of help.  Also, see below.

Of course, when Santa came to the mall, we had to take her to see him.  All prepared for the worst possible experience, we took my parents and dressed her up so we could capture this special moment.  Clearly, she was as excited as we were!

Finally, we got our turn to see Santa, and we braced ourselves for the screaming.  Instead, we got this...

We were pretty excited and hope that she continues to love him.

Christmas Eve came and Dave, Avery and I spent a quiet night at home together.  It was pretty sweet.  It allowed us some time to get ready and get our house ready for Christmas Day, which we got to host this year.

I convinced Dave that we needed a 9-1/2 foot tall
real Christmas tree in our living room since
it was Avery's first Christmas!  It really was
pretty awesome!

On Christmas Day, Dave's parents, and my entire family made the drive to our house for food and family time.  Avery slept for a few hours in the afternoon but I think she enjoyed her first Christmas.

For my baby shower, Ashley made me a duck cake, however
I unfortunately was unable to eat any of it before it was all served up.
So, to make up for it, she made me a Santa Duck Cake for Christmas.
She called it a hostess gift, I called it delicious!

Avery bought Grandma G. a puzzle made
from one of her newborn pictures!

Dave and Lucas were dressed almost identical!
This happens a lot actually!

Trying to figure out what is going on!

Auntie Ashley bought Avery this adorable, and very warm, coat along with a dress that I can't wait to put her in!

Yes, it was December 25 and I was barefoot!

The Glacinski's
The Carrion's
(I know Ralph's head is a bit cut off, but this is the only picture where
everyone looks great and there are no kids crying!)

As mentioned above, Avery rolled over Christmas night.  (Thankfully Avery bought mommy a Flip camera for Christmas to capture this moment along with many other "firsts")  I know it looks like I helped her, but I was just trying to keep her from rolling back onto her back.  Believe what you want, but I am counting it!  Also, I apologize for the high pitched screaming at the end...my sisters and I were very excited!  Volume control might be needed!

The day after Christmas, our family, the Antfellner's and my mom and dad went to visit GiGi in Sandwich.  We were so excited to have Avery get to see her GiGi and spend some time with her.  Aunt Donna, Uncle Chuck and Michelle came by for a bit too!

Finally, as I wrote earlier, we gave Avery cereal for the first time this morning.  I think she actually did pretty well, but I will let you decide!  It sure was amusing and I am glad Dave was there to take these pictures and some video!

Happy Thanksgiving!

On Thursday, we celebrated Thanksgiving with Dave's parents.  We began that morning bright and early... 4:30 am early!  Avery was obviously very excited to tell us how thankful she was to have us as parents so felt the need to be up very early.  I think Dave and I have become spoiled with her sleeping until at least 6:00!  Avery and I watched the Macy's parade, a family tradition in my house even though Dave could care less!  Of course she had a special Thanksgiving Day outfit to wear!

I am hoping the turkey on her butt and the
little ugg boots will distract you from her bald little head!

Despite what her outfit says, we still know that she is a big time Daddy's girl!!

In addition to hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa all day...

Avery also learned the longtime tradition of playing Farkel after a big Thanksgiving meal!!  She was Daddy's and Grandpa's good luck charm!

Finally, we have been trying so hard to get a smile or a giggle on camera to share with everyone.  Unfortunately, as soon as the camera is picked up, the smile runs away!!  (Chandler Bing anyone??)  We get to hear her giggle and see her smile all the time and want to share that with all of you.  So this is the best we could do this time around....

As the weekend came to a close, we ventured out Friday afternoon (not with the masses in the morning) to begin our annual Christmas decoration shopping.  Now that the weather is getting colder, Avery will have to get used to this contraption!

Hope everyone's bellies are full and you are all feeling thankful.  We feel so lucky to have been blessed with our little girl this year.

A couple weeks ago we had Avery's 3 month pictures taken.  Here is a link to the online gallery.  If anyone is interested in buying pictures the gallery is only open until Dec. 7.
