It is Summer!!

School is over for me and that means it is summer time around here- regardless of the 65 degrees and rain outside today.  :(  We didn't waste anytime getting our first trip to Chicago underway.  Last Wednesday, the girls and I headed up to my parents' house to spend about 5 days with them.  Like always, we made sure we had plans!  Thursday my mom and I took the girls and my nephew to Randall Oaks, which is a small little farm/zoo/park- just perfect in size for little legs! The kids were pretty excited!

Avery was super excited to be able to feed the goats!

Then, on Friday, my mom and I headed to the Farmer's Market in Schaumburg with the kiddos.  They love going and walking around- or maybe it is because of the lemon shakeups grandma always buys them and the apple cider donuts.  Regardless, I was happy to be there!  We grabbed some sandwiches for lunch and then the kids were off to the splashpad for some fun.  Once Ryen got used to it, the kids were insane!

That night we were going to have dinner at Robyn's but I decided that wasn't exciting enough for me.  So, instead, I slipped and fell down three stairs at my mom's house with Ryen and landed on her foot.  She screamed, I screamed and then we realized that Ryen couldn't walk on her left foot.  Of course, I was really nervous that I had broken her leg, but after moving things around, we realized that there weren't any broken bones.  We ended up taking her to prompt care and after 3 hours, screaming at the nurses, 4 x-rays, we learned that it was probably just badly bruised but no fractures or broken bones.  I was thankful but still so sad that this happened.  I was also very thankful that my mom was there with me.  :)  She has become quite the cuddly little lady since then.

And as long as grandma was feeding her fruit snacks, she was even happier.

We also learned that Ryen can make cat sounds.  :)  This was our entertainment for the duration of our stay.  (Oh and don't mind the bruise on her face, she tried climbing on a chair and it fell on her!)  This little girl is going to keep us on our toes for sure!

On Saturday, we got to celebrate my cousin Dan's high school graduation with many of our family members! My cousin Amy, one of my favorite people in the world, was in with her family and I was just so happy we got to hang out and that our kiddos got to play together!

I love this girl and wish we lived closer together!

This is how Ryen and Crew hung out at the end of the night....dirty and covered in water!  Just perfect!

The girls and I got back to Bloomington on Sunday.  Monday came and didn't slow us down at all.  Avery began swim lessons, Ryen and I signed up for mommy and me swim lessons, and that night was the kickoff party for the library summer reading program.  In addition to food and other activities, the kids all got to make cement squares that will be used to decorate the lawn around the new library.

Until next time....

Where Oh Where Did the Time Go?

It is safe to say that time got away from me over the last month or so.  We have been....ummm, preoccupied a bit.  :)  Please sit back and enjoy this past chaotic month.

We enjoyed our Easter holiday with my family at my aunt and uncle's house.  They always make the best Easter dinner.  The girls and I headed up Friday and spent some time with my parents and siblings before the holiday.  Easter morning was full of Easter candy, Easter eggs, and Easter dresses.

This was seriously the best picture I could get of the two of them all day.

Avery takes her Easter egg hunts very seriously!

Avery also ended her first year of preschool!  Of course there was an end of the year program full of singing.  We should have taught Avery to dance without lifting up her dress.

Just before Mother's Day, we took the opportunity to get some pictures of the girls and I together.  They are so cute and I just love them!

The other big thing that happened was we moved!  For the past year, we have been looking to move to the town I teach in- El Paso (yes, Illinois).  It is about 20 miles north of Bloomington and we love the idea of living in a small town surrounded by our friends.  After looking for a year, we hadn't found anything we loved.  Then, a house came up for us to rent and we jumped on it.  We moved in about a month ago and are pretty happy here!  Here's our new home!

Regardless of how happy we are here in our new home leaving our first home was a bit emotional to say the least.  We spent the last few nights in the house packing things up and the girls were sillier than ever!

Once we started moving things out, I started thinking about all the things that happened in this place.  This was mine and Dave's first house together....
September 2009
Dave and my dad and Michael helped make Avery's room perfect for her to come home....

It is also the home that Ryen came home to when it was perfectly put together by her daddy and her big sister....

It is also where both of the girls took their first steps...

We loved that house and it was the perfect place for us to start our family.  We took pictures of our house to get it ready to list it and then 12 hours before it hit the market, our house sold.  A friend of Dave's was looking to buy a house and they liked ours enough to buy it.  We obviously were so excited and are set to close on June 30.  We didn't even get to have our photos posted so now you get to enjoy them and they also get to be shared here for our family to look back on.

We are very happy that our first home is going to a family who will enjoy their first home here too.  They are also expecting their first child so a new family will begin here also.  The girls have loved being in El Paso and getting to be near their friends.  We are excited to begin this new chapter and hope we have lots of visitors!
