Summer time Shenanigans

I feel like this summer has been flying by- even though I have been off work since March!  The girls and I have tried to keep busy just about every day and it has been a lot of fun.  When Dave is home on the weekends, it is easier to keep busy since we can tag team the kids!  :)  Of course it does wear us out...

A couple weeks ago, Dave and I took Avery to her first movie at the theater.  We went to see Monsters University and she did awesome.  She was so excited and we let her have the full experience.  She got popcorn and candy (and mom and dad got some too).  We even brought Sully with us.  Avery sat (well with us holding her seat down since she didn't weigh enough to do it herself) for most of the movie and then did some dancing and standing.

Don't worry, that's daddy's drink in the picture, not Avery's!

Avery has also been helping us take care of our garden this year.  We have been very fortunate and our plants are growing like crazy! Jalapeno peppers, yellow and orange peppers, green beans, onions, zucchini, cucumbers, and tomatoes!

This past weekend Dave and Avery attempted her very first camp out!  Dave and I loved camping before we had the girls and can't wait to start camping with them.  Avery helped Dave set up the tent and played in it during the day and then of course there was time for looking at the stars, reading in the tent and staying up way past her bedtime.

After I put Ryen down for the night I said goodnight to those goofballs and off to bed I went.  Only to be woken at 11:30 by the sound of little feet coming down the hallway and her daddy tucking her in to her own bed.  Oh well, we tried.  There is always next time.

In other big news from the last week, Ryen turned 4 months old and is as talkative as ever.  In addition to being chatty, she also celebrated her 4 month birthday by learning to roll over.  I left her on her back and when I returned she was on her belly!  Being on her belly more has given her an entirely new view and she has loved looking at books!

Our other big news this week is that potty training has begun!  We started this past Sunday and day 1 was a mess....lots of accidents.  However, yesterday and today have been accident free and lots of time on the potty!  We are so proud of her and have spent a lot of time buying new underwear!

And now a quick rundown of everything else-

We celebrated Dave's birthday

We also spend time at the nearby lake feeding the ducks and geese and playing hopscotch-

We also spent the day at our friend's house and their creek.  She went and picked up crabs and fish and loved it!

And of course lots of snuggles!

Ryen's 3 month pictures

Last month we had Ryen's 3 month pictures done with Bridget and I just had to share them with you.  Since it was around Father's Day Dave did some pictures with the girls!  If anyone in the central Illinois area needs a photographer, we HIGHLY recommend Bridget!  She is worth every penny and then some.  Not only does she take our pictures, but she genuinely loves our little girls.  It is not just a 60 minute session and then we are out, she has taken the time to actually form a relationship with us and we just love her!  Check out her blog and other photos!  Enjoy!

Happy 4th!

It was so nice to have a 4th of July in Illinois where we could be outside all day without feeling sticky and hot!  The kids sure took advantage of it!

Papa Dave kept feeding the kids cupcakes all day!  He said it was ok because they were small.  ;)

Papa Dave also started an all out war with the girls and their water guns.  Needless to say, he lost.  It is hard to win again 3 little girls!

We had some great food and great company!  Then, it was off to the fireworks!  Avery was much braver this year with the sparklers...so brave, she decided to actually grab the hot end after the sparkler went out.  Thankfully it was a quick grab and she didn't seem bothered by it at all!

Ryen got lots of snuggles from Aunt Cathy that day!

Everyone got glow stick necklaces

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!
